Meet your Aegean Journeys Tour Guides
Aegean
Journeys is a
partnership of like minded individuals with one goal in mind: to
provide an experience beyond mainstream tourism; a journey that will
lead to extraordinary rewards and life changing encounters through
immersion in the "real life" culture of Turkey and Greece.
"After
living and working in tourism all my life,
it only seemed natural to develop Aegean Journeys
after my first visit to Turkey and Greece. Like many people, I had
always dreamed of going
to Greece and had no idea what an extraordinary place on earth I would
find in Turkey as well! Turkish hospitality is inescapable
and the Mediterranean food of Greece and Turkey is simply
delicious.Through my travels and meeting new
friends, I am
continuing to share my love for this small part of the world, please
come and join us!." ~Sarah

Bulent
Dogan ~ more than a guide in
Turkey. I met Bulent on our first journey to
Turkey in 2005. He is one
of those guys who makes you feel welcome and comfortable right away.
From meeting us at the airport and getting us settled into our hotel
rooms after a long international flight, he takes care of all our needs
throughout the tour. Not only is he a wonderful and entertaining tour
guide, he is also our host at Gokpinar
Cultural Center; a very unique
place where we often stop over during our tours to "feel" the simple
way of life in a traditional Turkish village. The cultural center is
located on a scenic mountaintop near the Aegean Coast of Turkey and
provides a natural, uncomplicated lifestyle in a beautiful,
ancient and peaceful land.
Asli
Kumari and her family invite you for a
cooking class at their
"farm" on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. Asli and her mother,
Meli are two of the sweetest, most giving women I've met
during my travels. They have opened their home to me and my groups and
have shown us true "Turkish hospitality". The Farm is
ten acres of beautiful fruit orchards nestled on a
hillside near Kusadasi, Turkey. They offer specialties in Turkish
cuisine which often include a visit to the
local farmers' market. In 2010 they will open a
boutique hotel on the property! This wonderland is an ideal
base location for day trips to many popular sites including Ephesus,
Pamukkale and Afrodisias, Izmir, and the Greek Islands.
Ahu
Tayan ~
our day guide in Ephesus and surrounding
mountain villages. I first met Ahu when visiting
Asli with a small group. Of course we became fast friends and
I look forward to every visit to Ephesus because I love listening to
her voice! She is a wealth of historical knowledge on
Ephesus and The House of the Virgin Mary. And we usually get to meet
some of
her friends who are inevitably visiting from around the world when she
takes us to her favorite mountain village, Sirence.
Musa Kanlibas ~ your host and guide in all of
Cappadocia. Musa's knowledge of the area and his
warm personality is the perfect match for the incredible and
beautifully moving landscape. His hotel, The SOS Cave Hotel,
in Goreme is the perfect central location for exploring Cappadocia. Run
by the family, the
warm and welcoming staff give your stay a feeling of coming home. The
most incredible experience while staying at The SOS Cave Hotel, is
waking up in the morning to the whoosh sound of the hot air balloons
floating past your window!
